(Beijing, September 15) The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final opened at the fencing hall of the Beijing National Convention Center on September 15. In an interview given to the official website of the event, Klaus Schormann, President of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM), expressed his satisfaction with the event organization and expected good performance of the athletes in the two-day competition.

The UIPM president first acknowledged the venue preparation for the World Cup final. "This venue is satisfactory, the organizing committee made all preparations within the time we had agreed on to ensure the smooth progress of the competition."

As the venue for the Olympic Games next year, the facilities inside the fencing hall of the Beijing National Convention Center satisfied the UIPM. As Klaus Schormann put it, here athletes could prepare themselves well for the coming Olympic Games.

"The swimming venue is fantastic as well. We once offered the local organizing committee our opinions on the fields for equestrian show jumping and running and are so pleased to see that they have finally accepted our suggestions to set up the warm-up area for show jumping outside the venue. In this way, the athletes will not be affected by the spectators in the venue as they are warming up," Klaus Schormann was quoted as saying.

Klaus Schormann made special mention of the performance by the host team. "The pistol shooting competition progressed smoothly and a Chinese athlete achieved the good result of 191pts, congratulations! It shows that the participants in this tournament are very strong."

Also, the UIPM chief acknowledged the accommodations provided by the organizing committee. "The hotel is cozy and near the venue," he said. "It helps the athletes save a lot of time."

"It can be said that the event organizing committee has made a perfect picture frame for athletes to put in a good picture," the UIPM president concluded, with a satisfied smile.
